THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: exercises

The book is based on my Isolation Method, whihc uses only a pitchwheel. Those exercises are there because I have a lot of students who prefer scales, so they are based around the three main exercises. The choice is up to you. RYVII will have a full blown 30+ exercises scale system as well as the original Isolation method, although somewhatb expanded, so the singer can have a choice. You choose what works for you.

Re: exercises

When RYV 2 wiil be available?

Re: exercises

I have no problem keeping my larynx down while doing the exercises, however when I sing and try to keep it down, it shoots right up. Is this normal for the first couple of weeks or should I be adding something to my vocal workouts?

Re: exercises

(Xavier will feel awesomoely stupid in 5 4 3 2 1........)

WAIT SECOND!??!

SO THERE'S NO NEED FOR DOING SCALES IF I FOLLOW THE RYV SYSTEM!?!?!?!??!?

!?!!??!?

Re: exercises

RYV will not be available until mid-2007 because we are putting a lot of work into it. If you prefer to follow the three main exercises using a pitchwheel and warming up, cooling down AND singing a song regimen of at least 5 songs per day, then you do not have to do the vocal scales from the Members section. The warmups (VSR, Lip bubbles, hums, etc...), falsetto slide, T.T, and Siren (as well as the other exercises such as vibrato, E scream exercise and bullfrogs if you choose)that is a fantastic workout. RYV II will provide an extensive non-scale typeworkou for pitchwheel users as well as a 30+ scale workout program based on the main exercises. This will give you a choice. I prefer the pitchwheel :)
