THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: voice range

*ahem*...specifically...

Re: voice range

YES. You can.

Before buying Jaime's book, I could barely sing an E4. After practicing Jaime's exercises for a few months, I could vocalise up to an F#5, over an octave higher than before.

Lee is basically talking about different registers in your voice. You might not be able to sing higher than A# in your particular register (throat resonance), but developing in your "head voice", which is STILL full voice, you can sing notes over an octave higher than that.

Re: voice range

Lee,

I have to correct you because you are completely off track. Danny CAN increase his range as high as he needs to, as much as an octave if so desired. To tell him a few notes is all he can reach is absurd. You can accomplish anything you desire. I have worked with so many hundreds of singers that I cannot even count how many people have extended their range by 6 notes or more. It's all a matter of developing and strengthening the voice and having the positive mental attitude to achieve your goals. If I would have listened to someone tell me "nah, you might be able to extend a note or two and that's it" back in 1988, I wouldn't have made it past middle C.

Jaime Vendera

PS- Not scolding you Lee, but I want people to know they CAN achieve what they so desire.

Re: voice range

Not scolding you jaime, but i think lee was saying that he could extend his "throaght resonance" range or middle voice a couple more notes before he would have to move to head resonance, where he could go much higher. loads of people have trouble accesing their "head" voice and need training to do so, which he was promoting through you.

peace love and high notes...low notes.....all notes?

Re: voice range

You know what, I stand corrected and I am sorry Lee. I am so swamped that I usually just speed read the messages and I actually went back and read your reply. I was way off base. I see what you were saying now, so I am sorry My mistake for not taking the time and doing my job correctly
