THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

JSS - Rockstar

For those of you who don't know, Jeff Scott Soto sings the rockers in the movie, "Rockstar." The dude from Steelheart sings the ballad that Wahlberg does for his audition.

Anyhow, here's "Stand Up" - he kills it!

Re: JSS - Rockstar

JSS doing an Yngwie Medley

This is totally roasting, JSS is heckling these guys in the crowd who are singing the song when he quits.
What's funny is he does the Scream from "I'll See The Light Tonight" and if anybody saw Yngwie on the "War to end all Wars" tour - the Singer, Jorn Land, didn't do the scream - they had a sample of JSS doing it that they played. I was laughing my butt off because of that. I was off to the side, and while that scream is taking place - Jorn Lande was standing behind the speaker stacks smoking a cigarette....I found that hilarious... then the scream ended and he went running on stage.

Re: JSS - Rockstar

WTF LOL!!!!

Jorn Lande is amazing though :p

I am still yet to see Rockstar.

Re: JSS - Rockstar

Actually, Michael Matijevic sings for every part that Wahlberg lipsyncs. He even did several other tunes for the movie that didn't make it onto the film. JSS sang the parts of Bobby Beers. For all you real Matijevic fans-I remember the Rockstar Commercial before the movie was released. I heard,"We All Die Young" and thought, "what the...? That's not how that song goes." That was because that song was released years before on Steelheart's WAIT CD, which I ordered as soon as it was released ;) So Mr.Steelheart, bet I'm a bigger fan than you, haha.

Re: JSS - Rockstar

.. and Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge makes a cameo at the end as 'Thor' - I watched through the whole movie for that part

Re: JSS - Rockstar

Yeah it was a weird casting choice, why the hell they didn't just use michael for the recordings instead of jeff was an odd choice....(I like them both as singers, but matejvics got a little crazier range....and you'll see live.....like what the hell is that note he hits at the end of this tune live*lol*.....)
As i thought Michaels version of stand up was killer......
Here's Michael live doing"Love Ain't Easy"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UP7dCNm6F8g&search=steelheart

Michaels a living testament of "what does kill us makes us stronger"....a few years back he a amajor accident live that almost cost him his life...the guys a fuckin tropper,(huge light baffle live almost did him in....smashed him in the spine and what not,you can read about it on the steelheart site....)
During the accident he got up and walked off the stage, normal person would have probably been killed...

I'm glad mykes cranking out a new disk, and reocrding allot of it up in toronto canada.....looking forward to hearing this metal god howl:Alex

Re: JSS - Rockstar

Yeah, I was really praying that Michael (he prefers to be called Miljenko) would recover fine. And it seems he did :) I was also hoping that the Rockstar movie would make Miljenko a household name. I would LOVE to find the versions of him doing songs like Stand Up and Shout...All the songs we didn't get to hear him do completely through in that movie. I also heard, but this might be a rumor, that Matijevic tried out for Velvet Revolver, as well as some others like Sebastian Bach. When the STP singer got the gig, I was totally bummed, I know Matijevic would have rocked it. We were supposed to do an interview a little over a year ago, but then he said he would rather wait because he didn't want people to know what he was doing until the new CD was done. So hopefully some day we'll get a cool interview.
