THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

This is kinda worrying me...

I asked 2 questions a few days ago, and still have not received a reply. I know people are rading it, and other people are getting responses to letters they posted AFTER mine, so I'm lead to 2 conlusions. 1) Jaime's been incredibly busy, and has just accidentally passed over it, or 2)He's never had someone ask him those questions. I know it seems odd. I can't explain it myself, but when I do very low notes, my Adam's apple seems to move inward, allowing the other portion of the esophagus, the "Bullfrog" muscles to protrude farther outward than the Adam's apple. I really need to know if I'm doing something wrong. I don't feel a strain when I do this, but if it could be damaging, I'll quit hitting notes so low. Please help!!!

Re: This is kinda worrying me...

I'm no expert but my throat does the same think. I think everyone else does too. You're okay.

Re: This is kinda worrying me...

Thank you so much. I'm glad I'm not alone here.

Re: This is kinda worrying me...

me too, man.

Re: This is kinda worrying me...

You are fine man. As long as it doesn't change the tonality to where you sound like Robert off of Eveyrone Loves Raymond ;) The larynx does adjust up and down as you go from low to high, but shoud go extreme, but on those lower notes, it just sounds like you are really opening the throat.
