THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Singing and alcohol... works wonders?!

Ok now i know that alcohol and vocalizing doesnt work wonders.
But now this weekend i was out and drank again, and the funny thing is that the day after ive been drinking my voice becomes realy good and i can zipup much easyer.
Not only that my whistlevoice register is doubbled.
how come this happens, and it's not just a 1 time coincidence, it's happend to me 3 times in a row now.

just making me wonder why my singing is so much easyer and effortless the day after ive been drunk?makes me comfused... would love any answears

Re: Singing and alcohol... works wonders?!

I can sing better WHEN I'm drunk...I attribute it to the fact that when you're drunk, it's easier to relax and have fun, instead of being all tense and paying attention so much to pushing out notes. Maybe you just stay relaxed.

Re: Singing and alcohol... works wonders?!

Some people will be fine after a few drinks, it don't work for me. As far as sounding better and zipping easier. It's only a temporary thing I bet. The reason your whistle notes have dobule is because your cords are probably a bit swollen from the fun and yelling the night before. Funny thing, whistle notes. When the cords are swollen, it can be much easier to hit really high whistle notes. It doesn't mean that alcohol is the answer. I bet 5-10 years from now if youi stay on the same path, it doesn't come so easy the next day.

Re: Singing and alcohol... works wonders?!

Few drinks I am ok, but if I have a big night. Then try and sing next day, just air comes out at times.

Make sure you drink water when you drink booze too.

Re: Singing and alcohol... works wonders?!

I agree with the relaxing after a drink or 2, I use to not drink at all when singing, but I have found that for my voices sake I limit my drinking and if I am drinking I up my water intake drastically .. with the drying out the alcohol does, the water is a great help.
