THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: Brett Mannings program

My range didn't imrove from Brett's program because I had already developed my range using first Jim Gillette's Vocal Power, then Thomas Appell's, Can You Sing A High C Without Straining, and finally my own personal program. But, I think that Brett's program is awesome and anyone would benefit from it. I have 6 octaves on a good day and I demonstrate 5 complete ocatves on my Myspace video at http://www.myspace.com/jaimevendera

Re: Brett Mannings program

Well then, how long did it take to improve your range with a full octave? How long did you train your voice? How many hours per day and for how long? I am just about to begin with bretts program and I know results vary but i would like to know how long it took for you to extend your range with a full octave?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Brett Mannings program

Well, in my case it took me years...Because I didn't have any guidance. But, when I finally set down and developped the program I now use. I seen an octave within a year. I've had students gain 7 or 8 notes first lesson, then I've had students take 6 months for 3-4 notes. I practiced every chance I could all throughout the day. Let me ask you this...How bad do you want it??? Better think hard on this one. Cause if you want it really bad, you'll practice your butt off. Youy'll live sleep and breathe singing and exercising, you won't smoke, drink or work drugs, you'll take care of your speaking voice...There are so many factors. There is no magic program, you've got to work hard. It's like training for the Olympics! But a general gain I've seen is anywhwere from 2-5 notes in a month to 6 weeks ;)

Re: Brett Mannings program

well i do not smoke etc... and i want it really bad so i will practise when i get rid of the cold i have, thanks for the reply!

Re: Brett Mannings program

If you own Raise Your Voice, you should follow the guidelines in the Vocal haelth section which can help you to reduce the severity and time of a cold.
