THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: Explain this please...

Who said it was better? Both programs are incredible. If you don't believe me then ask Brett Manning yourself, or about 30 other rock stars and vocal coaches. Actually, Brett and I are friends, and I have been asked by him to be a guest speaker at a vocal seminar he is holding in August. If you are happy with his program, then stick with it-Quit searching. Singing Success is a great program. But I must say that it's really cool how you can tell my program doesn't compare when you don't own it. Stick with his program, it will really help your voice. Raise Your Voice isn't for you.

Re: Explain this please...

I have a friend who owns Singing Success and he showed me some of it, and it's not bad at all, in fact it seems pretty good, but I personally like Jamie's program more. Jamie's really boils it down to very simple and doable programs.

Correct me if i'm wrong, since I don't actually own singing success, but Brett's program arguably has a lot "more" in terms of number of exercises and has info about different styles, R&B, pop, etc. but frankly, Jamie's exercises simply work much better for me than the SLS-ish exercises Brett uses. Jamie's program is definitely awesome though, made me a 100x better singer, even though i'm still trying to get through my damn bridge smoothly.

I think maybe the best course of action might be to get both.

Re: Explain this please...

Doood!!!! Jaime's program is less expensive and full of information and exercises for your voice. I'm probably speaking for lots of people...but I will speak for myself at this time, my voice has improved 2-3X's more than original singing skills. I am definitely not a natural singer.....but after Jaime's book, I can sing louder, higher, clearer, with half the effort. All it takes is time. I can hit C6 at full voice (sounds like a whistle) and sing mariah carey's song all day. This is all thanks to Jaime's Book. Anyone can learn how to sing well. It will just take some time and dedication

Re: Explain this please...

I have actually already ordered Brett Mannings Singing success program! Even before I posted . But if that program does not work as much as a want it to, then i think i will have a look at jaimes program, perhaps even by it. So you and Brett Manning are friends? Awsome Who is the better singer in your opinion of you and Brett? Don't be "shy". Just be honest!

Re: Explain this please...

I think you are looking for an ego trip. Sorry dude, I'm not into that. Brett is an amazing singer. We are both so different. He's very pop oriented where I myself prefer hard rock stuff-I guess you could say I'm more Zeppelin-esque. So why don't you just ask, "who is better? Prince or Tony Harnell?" A question like that doesn't make any sense. If Brett and I were to sing a Justin Timberlake songs, Brett would smoke me. And I think Timberlake is an excellent singer. But if Brett tried to nail an AC/DC song, he wouldn't be able to handle it like I can. It's all a matter of personal taste and what you sing over and over again throughout your life. My advice to you is to practice your ass off when you get his program and quit asking goofy questions. I'm sure Brett would tell you the same.

Re: Explain this please...

i have both. jamies program is far more better. it will teach you how to sing both with very compressed vocal cords and not so compressed. SS won't help you with that.

Re: Explain this please...

It sounds like this person is just tryin to get a rise out of you Jaime, Listen both programs work its what you put into it, Jaime's is geared more to the rock singer, but the principles to singing are the same for everyone, I suggest learning from both this is not a popularity contest they are both trying to help fellow singers get better, whether you comprehend what Jaime is saying or what Brett is saying better is all on you, take what you can from both and constantly strive for more info

Re: Explain this please...

I have read everything you can think.. from vocal release to singing success and complete vocal technique.

I believe that jaime's book is aimed at rock singing.
All the techniques/books/xyz focus at the same thing: Singing.

You'll get the coordination with your teacher/program
then you'll add style with your emotion/soul.

Just see on what focus the program is, even if dont
have any, test and find what suits best for you
because every human is different.. some people
may break at E4 other break at B3.. C9 what the hell
lol..

Test and see what suits you.

I have brett program too. is cool but dont worked with
me. if works with you, great. I still think is a great
work what he did it.

Some singers studied classical singing and sing rock
and some singers studied SLS and sing classical so
just find what works.

Good luck.

Re: Explain this please...

I study with Brett personally and I have to say that comparing vocal coaches is silly and naive. I haven't got a chance to look at Jamie's book, but I've seen his videos. I sing in a lot of styles but hard rock is my favorite.... and Brett has helped me more than anyone. Brett and Jamie have something special, a gift to teach and huge ranges. Bottom line, they are the best in the world...so comparing them is really inconsiderate.
