THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Crossed by Crossfade

I think that Ed Sloan from Crossfade is a decent singer so I decided to set up an interview with the band for a show that I saw last night. The manager turned me down, but wanted the publicity and copies of my books for Ed. I was told that Ed was having voice troubles from being worn out after two years of touring and was l;imited on his interviews. So, I told their publicist, that I would offer my voice strengthening services free of charge. Again, I was turned down, but the manager said to look him up and we'd set up an interview for a later date. I introduced myself to Ed but was cut short but their manager. I walked over to talk to him and he started treating me like I was some idiot fan. I sent a copule of emails to their publicist but according to him, it was "over 100". He told me that we weren't doing voice lessons that day and that we'd have to set up an interview on another day. Phil Tayler from FLOW told me that he knew it was mangement and that Ed would want to meet me. When I mentioned Phil, he acted like Phil was dirt and wasn't friends with Ed. When I mentioned Ed's vocal trouble, he acted like their publicist didn't have a clue about Ed's voice. He told me to come back after the signing to set up an interview. I have NEVER been treated like this, so I decided not to promote Crossfade or set up an interview, If Ed wants the books, he'll have to buy them like everybody else. After all was said and done, I could tell by Crossfade's performance that Ed Sloan was indeed vocally shot. It's a shame that a few techniques could turn his voice around, but due to poor management, he'll never know. So, if you are looking for a Crossfade interview, it won't be on The Voice Connection any time soon!!!

Re: Crossed by Crossfade

Wow jamie, i guess the colors that they shine are about as bad as there songs. Listening to just the way they sing, i really dont think they could pull that off night after night. Actually how bad are they live, I personally think they suck ass but your opinion of there live preformance would be greatly apreciated.

Re: Crossed by Crossfade

Thank GOD. I hated that band.

Now all I want, is The Killers to get throat cancer, and then I'll be set :)

Re: Crossed by Crossfade

Instead of taking the time to agree with everyone ELSE who said they suck, I'll say this.

Maybe, Senor Jaime, you should interview another singer.

You remember me telling you about Rocco Deluca? They guy who's reminiscent o Buckley and Plant? Well, he's on my myspace friend's list. I believe it's his father or brother that actually runs that page, but I've spoken with him a few times. Most of those times I've spoken to him about YOU. Robert Deluca said he'd probably buy Rocco your book for Christmas after I told him about it. I bet Rocco would probably allow an interview. Rumor has it that he's taking certain vocal lessons right now. Maybe you could jump in on that action! Just a thought...

Re: Crossed by Crossfade

That's a great idea. I tried to find his CD yesterday ata local store. I wanted to buy it. Do me afavor and talk to his father again and see if I can speak with him and Rocco :) thanks for your support, Merry Christmas and although I shouldn't pat you on the back for this, I'm proud of the fact you are finally taking the act of "non-smoker" serious:)
