THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

If you are on this site, you are obviously using Jaime's instruction from "Raise Your Voice".

I have discounted prices for Jaime's students. It was posted in another thread. Evidently people thought it was a "sale", but it wasn't, those are the new prices for this year for Jaime Vendera's students.

If you go to the main PTD-1 page at the website, you will be charged the full MSR price.

I'm trying to keep the prices as low as possible for you guys - Jaime believes in the device, I believe in the device - it works, as long as you will use it. It can be a little uncomfortable to use at first, after all, it essentially forces you to hold your breath by limiting how much air you can take in, and how much air you can let out. It's a simple concept, but it works like a charm. I had a late friend named Brian Hicks who died of cancer three years ago; Brian was a multi-instrumentalist, and was perhaps the most talented musician I have ever known.... he could play just about any kind of horn you could think of,as well as piano, drums, and bass guitar. He graduated from the Jazz program at the University of North Florida, which is regaled as being one of the most phenomenal Music programs in the USA for Jazz.
I gave one of the original PTD-1's to Brian in 1999, and he loved it. It was his secret weapon for being able to hold out notes on his horns, and when he explained to me the process of holding out notes for long periods of time in order to create a rich, full, and clean note, I thought,"This is exactly like vocal training." It was an epiphany that inspired me to train with the breath trainer on a daily basis.

If you wish to buy a PTD-1 or the newer Parabolic Breath Trainer, which uses a diaphragm which allows a fixed rate or air volume to pass through it, you need to go to the website listed below. All Prices INCLUDE First Class Shipping Worldwide. In all Honesty, the PBT is all that the majority of you will need. Jaime still likes the PTD-1 because it is adjustable.

Oh, and for the people who keep asking me what the "PTD" stands for. Every time somebody would come over and see it on my desk, the would pick it up and say,"What is this?"

Now, I don't know about you - but I don't want everybody and their mother handling something I put in my mouth. Which means I was constantly having to sterilize it. (These days I have it sitting in a coffee cup on my desk with a little lid on top - which I use as my "holder" for it, so while I am sitting here at the PC, I can just stick it in my mouth and use it while I am online.)

The "PTD" Came from me yelling,"PUT THAT DOWN!" at people all the time. LOL
So there you have it. I needed a name for it, and when Jaime asked me what I called it, I initially almost told him "Put That Down".

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

This device is great. Im just getting back into using it. Hope you keep making these for a long time!

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

Is this still going on? I'm new to these forums and just wanted to make sure before I ordered one.

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

Hi,

It most certainly is.

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

Ok, thanks!

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

by chance, can you ship to Korea?

by chance, can you ship to Korea?

No, sorry I do not ship to Korea.

I'm actually considering eliminating shipments outside the USA, or maybe even stopping altogether. I have so few orders from outside the Continental USA it makes more sense, as this is ultimately become a "hobby" for me. I'm certainly not making a living doing it. LOL I had a whole 12 orders last year. So between the cost of the product, the shipping cost, and the monthly cost of the website - I didn't even make $50 profit for the year, so I've been considering just scrapping the whole thing. The idea is great, the product works extremely well, but there is simply no demand for it.

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

Actually, I didn't even take into account the registration of the website. It may be that I actually wound up paying people to take them. I'm going to have to do a breakdown of all the expenses, because if that is the case, then I am most definitely going to shut it down.

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

I finally ran all the numbers this morning.

I am shutting it down.

If I had sold a lot of them, it would have made money, but the sales did not even cover my expenses. So that's it. I figure after 7+ years, if I can't make it work, it's time to hang it up.

If you are in the Continental USA and want a PTD-1, contact me - because February is going to be the last month they will be available.

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

Please stop ordering. I just refunded that last order from Germany. For the time being, the PTD-1 is no longer available.

Thank You.

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

Jaime sent me a message, and essentially told me I can't stop selling the PTD-1. LOL

So here is what we are going to do.
I'm not going to sell them for about 2 months.
A friend of mine is an engineer, and we are designing a machine to do some of the work. Trust me, when you hands hurt after several hours of making them, you're not so enthusiastic about making them - and on top of that, when I discovered that I actually lost money on them - I just sort of flipped out.

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

Back online.

PTD1 back online

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

Thanks for continuing production! I just ordered mine

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

PTD-1A is an excellent tool!! I've been using it for over a year and it is a great way to exercise the breathing muscles. I recommend it!

You should try expanding your market for this.
I believe all athletes will benefit from it.

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

Greetings, Skullsplitter.

I bought a PTD-1 by the end of 2012.

I rememeber you said you were in the middle of re-writing the program for the device, and that it would be available as an e-book.

I was wondering if there have been any changes or updates to the instructions since then.

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

Hello Tim,

Is the PTD-1 still available for purchase?

I'm extremely interested in getting 1!

Thanks

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

Steve, it depends upon where you are.

I have two orders that are going on to Europe and one in India. People keep ordering from outside the USA, and I have continually had problems with the orders. some people apparently were sent a thing to go pick the device up by their customs office, and they never did, so the devices got returned.

I have literally been housebound for the last 3 months. My mom has dementia and cannot be left alone because she tried to get out of a wheelchair and broke her femur in three pieces, then my dad was hospitalized for heart and kidney issues for a few weeks. I was literally forced to stay in the house for over 2 months straight to watch my mom. I've had very limited access to the Internet. I could not get into my Paypal or Google e-mail account.

So for now, I have removed the order page. I have to get this straightened out or shut it down completely. Sometimes life just seems to get in the way. LOL

Re: PTD-1 for Jaime Vendera's students.

I am no longer making the PTD-1. I do not have the time or place to do it. I believe that the shipping problems that I had with overseas shipments were directly related to the manila envelope/mailing package I was using. They were fine inside the United States, but I had several of them returned ripped, and more than a few just seemed to disappear - especially those going to Australia for some reason.

Due to my mom's declining health, my dad decided to sell their home. He refuses to put her in any kind of nursing home or institution, so we are taking care of her at home. I understand why - they've been married for well over 50 years. She is almost comatose and for the most part my day involves rotating her every 60 minutes so she doesn't get bedsores. Without a doubt, I can say that Dementia is not something I would ever wish upon anyone. My mom was such a vibrant woman and now she is reduced to being a 70-year-old infant.... but it has given me a new perspective on life and my girlfriend and I are both going back to college to become Registered Nurses.

Gimme a ring, Skullsplitter, I have an idea.
