Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Singersdiet?

Hi fellow singers I was wondering if there's also a diet to gain weight with proper vocal health thnx in advance...

Hmmm, not for sure. Have you though about upping your protein and adding in some exercise? There's far more to just adding protein, but I am not a doctor or dietitian, so please investigate further:)

Yeah, don't get fat or you can have problems with your breathing and maneuvering your diaphragm.

Start lean and lift weights. Squats, deadlifts, legpress, are the best for putting on mass just for the fact the leg muscles are bigger and can lift more weight and also grow quicker.

Make sure you to consume protein within 30 minutes of your lifting session.

You really need a good whey protein powder with stevia and none of that fake crap in it. Otherwise you're going to be eating a ton of chicken and feeling like you're going to throw up.

Well... gaining weight does not = being fat. I assume the writer is in some type of fighting training because no one "normal" want's to gain weight.

Weight is not what attributes to breathing issues, it's actually the heart problems and inactivity levels that your "average hefty person" suffers from that cause the shortness of breath. Look at Aretha Franklin and... oh that other chick that's the Jenny Craig spokesman now - look at John Popper, the list of chunky vocalists goes on. Granted, most of these artists will die as a result of their unhealthy weight - if they haven't already (Popper) and they don't run and jump across the stage either.

I would just stay away from anything that would give you heartburn or irritate acid reflux issues - you don't want to "burn" your chords. Make sure although you are ingesting extra calories you are still maintaining some level of cardiac activity to keep your stamina in check. I'd also be sure to keep a daily singing regimen so as you gain you can keep your voice on track.

If you are in some type of fighting school I would ask your trainers what an OVERALL healthy way to gain is as your voice is reflected by overall health as part of you physiology.

Thankyou somuch for this guys I´m also a MMA fighter , but singing means everything to me I was so lucky to find Jaime vendera and this singersclub love to be part of this big family I´m blessed.
