THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: multiple simple question about adding grit excercises

Forget about all questions except for the third. I got others figured out today while watching videos.

Re: multiple simple question about adding grit excercises

1. After finishing my isolation exercises can I add one or two grit exercises (low grit and then E scream) or only one of them?

YES, you can add both.

2. In case I do grit exercises could they be done right after isolation exercises or only after transcending tone ( that are done after isolation exercises)?

AFTER all three exercises or any other time during the day. You CAN add E-Screams to the top end of the TT exercise to carry on higher in that exercise because both exercises are very similar.

3. Even though I watched mp3 audio on low grit, I still don´t
get how many pitches I´m supposed to work the grit upscale (whether I´m supposed to work the grit all the way up to the highest note of my full voice which is above high C or not go high at all)

ONLY as high as it feels comfortable. Don't worry about range as it will come.

4. I don´t know if I get it right but when doing E scream can I repeat the pitch at the certain note even more times before going to the higher one and then do the same number of repetitions at the higher note (working upscale) and so on?

YES, or you can stair-step the exercise as explained in RYV2: The Advanced Manual
