THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Give me comments about my singins, good and bad..

Hello,

Here is link to a song where you can listen to my singing

http://db.tt/ehHjWdup 18 and life

Lead me to the right path.. :)I started to practice with Jaime's method in this january and I have been singing many years with wrong technique and although I try to practise everyday, still i'm so frustrated about my progress. I know that nothing comes quickly and I have to be patient. But correct me please! ;)

I can hear all the mistakes what I'm doing, but I can't fix those. And what exercises I have to do more? (I know that I have to do them all).

I wanted to do toughest song for me, so you can hear all the cracks, rattles and pops in my voice..

I know that lowest I can sing f2 and highest a4(maybe I do a pulling chest thing in g4-a4..?) and when I change my voice (not so smoothly) to head(falsetto) it's e5/f5. Is

I think I have made my singing so complicated, because I try too hard to think all those techniques and then I forgot that singing part.. :(

Also give me your opinion about my sound.. Is it good or shall I still continue to be in my day job.. :)) I know that everything can be fixed to a certain point, but can it?

Thank you if you have the time to listen that sond and give me honest feedback! :)

Your wannabe singer

Risto (37-year-old rockstar or dreamer.. ;)) from Finland

ps. I've quickly played all the instruments (except the drums) in that song so there's lot's of mistakes. I also played that song in Am (normal is C#m)and still it's hard song to do.. Of course I know that Mr. Bach is amazing singer and I have many years to catch him in singing-wise.. :D

Re: Give me comments about my singins, good and bad..

No comments, no guidance.. :(

Re: Give me comments about my singins, good and bad..

Can you post an mp3? i tried to listen but even with my fast internet it was taking ages to load. If you can convert it to an mp3 i am sure more will listen and give feedback.

Re: Give me comments about my singins, good and bad..

I'm so sorry about the first link. Thanks Luke for giving me that first tip. ;)

Hopefully it works now..

Re: Give me comments about my singins, good and bad..

Good job man! It's slightly nasal, otherwise great. Good luck :)

Re: Give me comments about my singins, good and bad..

Thank you so much for your feedback Kevin! I appreciate it very much! :)

Maybe I was trying too much to emulate Sebastian Bach's voice.

It would be nice if my voice doesn't get hoarse and break when I'm singing live.

It's a long way to the top put I will get in there someday! ;)

Re: Give me comments about my singins, good and bad..

Unless you look just like a young Sebastian Bach and want a gig walking around and imitating him, stop trying to sound like him.

The problem overall is that the song lacks the intensity and energy that Bach brings to it with his voice. You need some color in your tones and maybe some grit. Or learn the breathy stuff like Prince.

It isn't so much range or hitting notes, but attitude.

Hope that helps.

Re: Give me comments about my singins, good and bad..

Great job allround for sure!

At times it sounds little like you get some throat tension so i would suggest focusing on keeping that slight yawn feeling when you take your micro breath.

I am not sure what you are annoyed about...you sound great! keep up the great work.

Luke
