THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: Putting vocal programs together to develop every area of the voice?

Why not just strengthen the specific parts of your voice that need strengthening, while maintaining the solid parts of you voice? Target the weakest parts of your voice, make them mighty!

Re: Putting vocal programs together to develop every area of the voice?

Each course isn't for specifics, as all these coaches are working toward the same complete goals, so choose the course you feel works best for you and stick to it;)

Re: Putting vocal programs together to develop every area of the voice?

Okay thanks! I'm really into putting my own vocal workout together to fit my voice. Like I love doing your Isolation exercises three days a week as my workout, then I do the next two days of my workout Ken Tamplin's How to sing better then anyone else course. Will this confuse my vocal cords?

Re: Putting vocal programs together to develop every area of the voice?

I think Jim Gillette Vocal Power scale exercices are a good complement to RYV. I had quite good results combining both for strenghtening my full voice.

Re: Putting vocal programs together to develop every area of the voice?

yes, Jim's scales are the only ones I use now, mainly because he called me up last year and handed me over the keys to his training legacy. He said I was the only one he would endorse to teach his scales. So, what did we do? We wrote a book together and created new scales. They'll all be out when the tie is right;)

Re: Putting vocal programs together to develop every area of the voice?

I'll check out Jim's stuff! How often should I practice a day?

Re: Putting vocal programs together to develop every area of the voice?

And Also What do you think about Ken Tamplin's training? Should I still add that in to my vocal practicing? I have the volume 1 dvd and he works a lot on Falsetto development.

Re: Putting vocal programs together to develop every area of the voice?

Don't know anything about Ken's program. I remember one song he had out in Christian metal back in the early 90s. I really liked it:) Jim was my coach so I choose to use his, as well as Elizabeth Sabine's stuff. My other favs are Thomas Appell and James Lugo. Really like Eli Prinsen's program too. Practice is individal. it ay be 30 minutes or two hours a day.
