THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Hey all!

I'm new to this website. Just started with Jaime's book "Raise Your Voice". I am 43 years old and have been singing for a few years. I am trying to work on my basics and become a better vocalist. I mostly do covers because I don't have a band. If you want to check out some of my stuff, my YouTube channel is:

Peace!

Hey Dave,

I just watched a bunch of your youtube videos. I think you have a great voice. Your tone and expression are really good. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work! How long have you been singing? Do you have any training besides RYV?

Re: Hey all!

Hi Ben!

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks, man. I have zero training other than RYV, and I had been having issues with my voice, which is why I found RYV. It's helped a lot but I have a long way to go. There are a few songs I really want to sing but need to increase my range a bit, and I want to do it the RIGHT and SAFE way. For me, breath support is always my problem. I also tense up to much as I got higher in my range, which is cutting me short.

On another note, I never had any issues with "grit" which I know a lot of people struggle with. Its just something I've been able to do naturally.

I figured you were busy. Well, if you sound that good with "issues", then I can't imagine how good you are going to sound once you get those worked out. I really think you have a really good sounding voice. I love your tone and expression. Keep it up!
