THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Water Emergency

Hi Ya'll,

So, I try to drink as much water as I can.. and I get to about two 16 oz. bottles of it and then I feel like I just can't go on! HELP! I know how crucial it is for me to be drinking a lot of water everyday. I want so bad to progress, but if I can't drink enough water, I know that it's not going to happen for me. I keep a humidifier on all night in my bedroom but I know it won't make up for my lack of consumption. Sometimes, in the past, I would be hospitalized because I would become so dehydrated that I would become ill. I know that I need to consult a physician and I have already consulted Jaime on that matter. I was just wondering if you all had any feedback on the subject.
Thanks!

Re: Water Emergency

I've never met anyone thats dehydrated themselves like that 0_o
But you could try working up from that. When I first wake up I fill up my water bottle and drink it whenever. Normally an hour or so later I need a refill.

Its a 20 ounce bottle so everyday I end up having between 80 and 120 ounces on average. Try just drinking your 16 ounce bottle one in the morning, one before bed. Then you should have time for at least 1 more in the middle.

You might not actually be that far away from what you need to have, which is half your weight in ounces. I weigh 200 ish, from your name I see your a girl, so you probably weigh a LOT less than me xP

Re: Water Emergency

Get X2O Blast if its just that you hate the taste of water. Also if you feel your voice is dry, get a small mist bottle. It works amazingggggggg. You'll probably cough the first few times you do it, then your fine. I'll be drinking coffee and feel like I can't sing at all. Then I whip out the mister and i'll feel like I haven't had coffee in a week.

Re: Water Emergency

Hi Angelica,

First: Cut out all other liquids! No soft drinks, coffee, tea, beer, liquor, milk, etc.
If you are drinking any of those - they can "take the place of water" in your system, but even though they are liquids, your body does not process them the same as it does water.

Second: Forget drinking a bottle in one sitting.
Just keep water with you at all times, and drink a sip every few minutes.

Re: Water Emergency

im like 130 pounds maybe and drink roughly 100oz of water everyday. the way i do it is i drink around 12-16oz the moment i wake up. and then i start sipping on the water after breakfast. and the final trick is to drink right after taking a ***** i generally try to drink as much as i pee out and that works for me. i end up needing to pee a LOT though.
