THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

My band

Well, i've seen people do this here before, so I decided since I haven't actually shown any display of my voice before, might as well show a song off. Its called Judgment day, we just uploaded it on our myspace, and all we had to go on was an SM58, some outdated recording software, and a very slow computer. So without further excuses, go check it out

Tell me what you think. If you hear any vocal problems (other than my forced and sometimes uneven vibrato) Let me know. I want to know what to work on.

Re: My band

Cool song! Very metal hairstyle, if that's actually you. :D

I didn't mind your vibrato at all... your control and enunciation are just fine. The only objection I have is that you tend to "thin out" the voice when you don't really need to... I know, this could just be a tonal preference of yours, but it just doesn't speak to my ears. I would find it a lot cooler if you had fuller, more powerful tone. For example, your tone in the quiet section was just great. I just think in the heavy section, you should sound more powerful.

But all in all, cool band you've got there! You're out there gigging, which is great in itself.

Re: My band

Ya thats actually me. You know i've never actually had someone comment on the fullness of my tone, guess I always thought it was pretty full, but now that you mention it, I am a bit stronger in that quiet part.

Guess i'll have to work more on transcending tone in that area of my range. Thats the area right below my break through a majority of the song, so I guess i've been lazy with it. Thanks for the input Legatoman, its the only way I learn, and I'll take critisism from people here much more constructively than I would anywhere else, as i'm surrounded by people who know what they are talking about, heheh.
