THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Klaus Meine from the Scorpions.

I was listening to The Scorpions today, and it dawned on me that Ronnie James Dio and Klaus Meine actually sounded quite a bit alike back in the 70's.

Listen to The Sails of Charon by The Scorpions and just close your eyes. KM's voice is definitely very Dio-ish in parts.

Re: Klaus Meine from the Scorpions.

That music video was so bad it was humerous. But jeez I never knew the scorpions had a good guitar player. I might have to learn that guitar solo in the beginning.

Re: Klaus Meine from the Scorpions.

Are you kidding? I thought everyone knew about Uli Jon Roth! He is an amazing player! IIRC he was one of Yngwie's influences to some degree.

Yeah, that video is definitely 70's cheese, but I like Cheese - especially the metal kind.

Go to youtube and check out the early Scorpions material - there is some great stuff there.
I liked Mathias Jabs myself - he wasn't quite on par with UJR, but he was still a good guitarist. I think the best CD with Jabs playing on it is Animal Magnetism, but that's just me - that came out about a year or so after I first started learning to play guitar - so some of the early songs I tackled were things like "The Zoo" and "Don't Make No Promises" before I started trying to tackle Randy Rhoads material.

Re: Klaus Meine from the Scorpions.

Jeez how old are you? haha

I read about that guy in Guitar World but never actually heard him play a hard solo or anything. The guitarist's I listen to are, the guys from Protest the Hero, Paul GIlbert, John Petrucci from Dream Theater, Steve Vai and Adam Jones.

Re: Klaus Meine from the Scorpions.

Old.

LOL

I'll be 40 in 2 months. I've been playing music since I was 8. I studied classical guitar for 4 years, and I've played drums for 32 years.

Re: Klaus Meine from the Scorpions.

haha wow.

You better be godlike at drums for 32 years.

Re: Klaus Meine from the Scorpions.

Well, let's just put it this way. I was hitting over 1,100 strikes in 60 seconds on the kicks in 2000.
One of my friends wanted to know how fast it was, so they recorded me on a computer and actually sat down and counted the number of strikes in a wave editing screen. In the world of Black metal and Death metal, that's probably about average, but I don't play that kind of music - so it's good for me.

I prefer "Goblet" metal. LOL

Re: Klaus Meine from the Scorpions.

If by kicks you mean bass drum, the world record is about 1050 or something. So I think your off on the counting by a bit haha. Unless your the record holder 0_o

Re: Klaus Meine from the Scorpions.

The last I knew Tim Waterson was the Fastest Feet record holder and he is probably almost twice as fast as 1050 by now.
I just went and looked, evidently WFD has changed the rules, so now it's all single stroke rolls; initially it was double-stroke rolls, and that's what I'm talking about.

So Tim Waterson ranked at 1030 with single stroke rolls.... but he was something like 1400 or 1600 using a double-stroke roll.
