THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

I love this board!!!

I just wanted to express my thanks to the board and everyone here. On this board I feel connected with people who want to help you out and understand you. It's really amazing. You're surrounded by all those really great people, who are here just to help each other out. And the most amazing thing is that people here actually give you support and encourage you to sing. That's something all my relatives have always discouraged and said that there is no point in singing, and that I will never be able to sing. Thanks to you guys I'm beginning to believe in myself. I know I'm a little emotional now. Many guys will consider me girlish after this post; oh well too bad for them .

Re: I love this board!!!

This is a 99% metal forum... we are all girls
Long hair and girly screams for the win

Re: I love this board!!!

Singing is the only God given instrument. Everybody deserves to sing. Good or bad. Singing makes people happy. If your family can't see that; it's their loss. Don't get dishearten and continue follow your dreams.

Re: I love this board!!!

Let's get something straight. This is NOT a 99% metal forum!!! Although I have grown up singing metal and rock, this technique is for everyone. Where I live in the US, most of my private students that come to me regularly are pop and country. Why? Because that's the norm where I live AND the techniques work for anyome. my metal students drive or fly in. So let's not alienate any tpe of singewrs. All singer are welcome;)

Re: I love this board!!!

Hey, I don't have long hair. I wanna correct that, but somehow whenever I try to grow long hair, I end up at the barber's shop, and then I try to grow it again. Lol.
Well, concerning my parents they hate metal music. They think it's a bunch of gay guys singing like girls with crazy long hair. Soooo ignorant. I finally learned to appreciate death metal singers. Singing like them takes lots of time and dedication, not talentless screaming like I thought it was.

Hey Jens, hope you didn't think I was mad, I wasn't...It just read like I was. I was just pointing out that ALL singers are welcome...Even country and rap...but we can make fun of them:)

Re: I love this board!!!

Right keep an open mind about the music you like. Remember that music is everywhere starting with the rhythm of a baby's heartbeat in his mother's womb. It has infinite possibilities and restricting yourself to a certain genre is sad (at least that's how it seems to me)!

Re: I love this board!!!

it's not a metal forum, but it'a a place where we can talk about that style and not get answers like "do you call that singing..." or "in two years your voice will have disapear, it's not possible to sing that way" etc....

Re: I love this board!!!

in response to the original post. there was once a little girl who had a brother that would always tell her that she would never be a good singer. despite the ridicule of her brother she just kept practicing and practicing until she grew up. you have probably heard this little girl that grew up sing. her name is Aretha Franklin
