Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Advices needed on my awfull singing on 2 hard songs (MP3 Inside)

Hi there,

First i just want inform you that i've been singing for about 8 months now, and try sing rock thing for Two months only. So i warned you it's gonna some awfull singing, plus those songs are really challenging for everyone i think.....

So now the difficult part for me...

It's me singing "Smoke on the water" in a arranged version, i change it to pu some high C at the end. Don't be afarid, i know it sounds awfull but there's only the first verse. On the high notes i feel like the "core of resonnance" is blocked in the mouth and putting more sound in the nose or head resonance will help me, i'm right???

It's me singing 'Soul Mover' of Glenn Hughes The Great....
I only i could not strain on the chorus part ' soulllllllmmmoveeeerrr'
I know this is not sounding good, but it's glenn hughes


For all the samples i think i sing really too loud. I really wanted to get more resonance/sounds at lower volumes. I mean i alreday made some hard efforts, because i have a tendancy of really pushing too much, it helped me first but not more now. I really to be more free and more "open" with my singing.

You have a really good sound! Keep practicing! 8 months? That's awesome!

You had some pitching problems but that will change when you get more confident about your voice

Jeremy,

Smoke On The Water was pretty good. You need to concentrate on the lyrics of this classic song. In the first verse you sang about the Lake Virginia shoreline. It is supposed to be the Lake Geneva shoreline. The original lyric paints a picture of a great European Motel being burned down and smoke floating on the water. Lyrics aside, it was good singing.

lol, sorry for the words, i really don't know i said virginia. Thanxs for comments . Any advices to get it better
