THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: New band

Lee let me just say, I haven't checked this out YET but, in the past few weeks I only got to hear about 30 seconds of those audition clips you have on your myspace page(my computer just wouldn't load them all the way). And I thought this guy has great vocals. But today, I finally got to hear all 3 completely. WOW! Dam man, you have awesome vocals. A bit of Labrie sounding at times, on those really high notes. But dam you can sing. I like that Outworld audition 1 clip a lot. I like the deepness of your voice in the beginning on that one and the vocal melody is great. And the music is great too.
Oh and the Jesus one, very awesome. Great vocals. Great vibrato too!

Re: New band

Thanks alot :)
Let me know what you think of this one when you get the time...
Cheers
Lee

Re: New band

Another great vocal performance on the new clip. OH MAN...that high note at the 3:25 mark Now that is a SIREN!

Re: New band

Whoa...I LOVE IT! Very professional.

And that G5...awesome, and DEFINITELY full voice this time.

Re: New band

Actually, there was ONE thing that kind of bothered me...when you sang "survive" it sounded more like "survoive". I think it would be more pleasing to the ear if you'd focus on an OPEN "ah" (as in "father") sound when singing the "vive".

STILL...great performance.

Re: New band

Dude I love your voice!

Re: New band

Lee Muria, you blew my mind as usual!

A few questions: What kind of recording software do you use (programs, mics etc) and how did you manage to get the backing vocals sounding so awesomely awesome?

Stay metal!

Re: New band

Nice work man!

I know, I know, metal heads love the high stuff ;), but I really liked your tone in the lower registers. (especially when you came in clean after the beginning part with all the effects)

Re: New band

Thanks alot for your kind words guys :)
Legatoman, yeh i agree my diction with of words is always a little dodgy, but i dont try and correct it because i just like it that way, because its me, if you get what i mean? cheers anyway :)
and Anton, i use the last version of Logic that they made for the PC, just because i used it in college and i know it inside out. As for hardware, i use a beringer B1 cardioid mic, and a small beringer desk just to supply the phantom power. Then i use alot of compression in logic and a bit of reverb.
Cheers guy again
Lee

Re: New band

You remind me of Geoff tate on this one... a better less nasaly Tate. Good work Lee, I'm not usually a prog guy, but there is more of a mainstream feel to this one than usual.

Re: New band

Wow...Geoff Tate
Thats the first time ive heard that.
Cheers Jordan

Lee Muria: "Legatoman, yeh i agree my diction with of words is always a little dodgy, but i dont try and correct it because i just like it that way, because its me, if you get what i mean? cheers anyway :)"

>>Yeah, I totally respect that. You should definitely only change when YOU think it's necessary.
