THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Hiting a B

Dam im mad im recording a project and there is a back up in vocals the i supposed to hit a b below high c.
Big problems it is like fallsetto very weak. And the im using the power push right i feel that my voice is not getting in my head. what to do?

Re: Hiting a B

Hmm...if you can't comfortably hit a certain note, it's probably better if you don't record it.

Still, try to focus on using RESONANCE rather than straining or using lots of breath.

Re: Hiting a B

Boris,

If you've been religiously practicing the RYV exercises every day for as long as you've had the manual, you should be hitting that B pretty easily by now. I recently watched a kid go from barely being able to push out an A to hitting a D above Tenor high C in less than four weeks. But he was working his butt off. You must REALLY work your voice every single day in order to achieve the resulkts you want.

Re: Hiting a B

yeah i understand but i rely on powerpush more then anything. Becasue when i think that and the higher i go the more down i push.

Im getting in to that habit.
but i just cant pop in to my head voice.

When i think visuals like a ping pong i feel a strain when i think up. So i rely on the powerpush to do most but i dont know how to narrow vowels.

I do need this recorded. see but its not like going down to up when singing its grabbing the B right away.

And i dont even want for full voice just that it sounds nice.

Re: Hiting a B

I need to feel my head while the pressure in my lower ass.

Re: Hiting a B

since it's only a backing part, you might just try and find someone to sing that part on the recording. (if time is an issue, as it often is in recording.) There's no shame in that. Then you can continue to progress at your natural pace.

Re: Hiting a B

Well if your not going up into your head voice, your voice either be tired from all the recording or lack of sleep. Or maybe you just need to find that sensation again. I know when I'm really tired or use the voice too much my head voice goes away.Stess also can really take its toll on your voice.
