THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: My Sons band

Good vocals, clean sounding. PLeasant to the eardrum.

Re: My Sons band

hey. Not bad stuff. I love the description of "screamo" in the headline, lol, but I'm glad it wasn't really screaming like I kind of expected after reading that.

Not sure if your son is the singer or an instrumentalist. Anyway, the singer has a good voice, and I think the melodies work well in this kind of music (the approach is a bit too mainstream for my taste, but like I said, it works...all the pieces groove together well) but my one criticism on the singing would be to pay a little more attention to intonation. (it's just here and there, not like a rampant problem) I know some people think "hey, if it had the 'feel' I was going for, that's more important than if it's perfectly in tune..." Sure there is some merit to this line of thought...yes, there are literally decades worth of great music, classic songs too great in number to name that have intonation issues, but here in the generation of digital recording, people have simply become more accustomed to hearing music that is in tune. I do think that emotional content should reign supreme, but IMO, intonation shouldn't have to suffer in order to acheive that.

Re: My Sons band

Paul,

No he is actually the lead guitar player. I have talked to them about him about the singer be a little pitchy but I dont think they believe me... I am trying to get him to buy Jaimies books especially the ubw. I think a lot of it is breathing issues.
