THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Pagan's Mind

I'm really REALLY REEALLLY into this band right now. It's been about a month of listening to their stuff on myspace. www.myspace.com/pagansmind. Love the songs Embracing Fear, Through Osiris's Eyes and Supremacy of its Kind. I'm really into prog bands right now. The singer of Pagan's Mind, Nils, is awesome. His vocals are the schizzy. He goes pretty high in his full voice on many songs. So as far as vocalist's go, he's the one I'm into right now. I've just ordered one of their albums...Infinity Divine. Cannot wait for this one to arrive.

Re: Pagan's Mind

Hi Nancy,

Pagan's Mind are a cool band. I've seen them live twice. Both times Nils was right on! I think Nils is very talented but his style isn't exactly my favorite. I sing in a prog metal band as well, and I'm probably splitting hairs there, haha, many people who don't listen to prog probably think all prog metal vocalists (myself included),sound alike. lol

I also really like their guitarist's style.

Hey, if you don't mind, stop by my band's page and see what you think. Our Album is coming out this FRIDAY! :)

By the way, I discovered Suncaged a few years ago, for being myself in a very progressive style that time, I found it out as an excellent prog band Nice to meet you here.

Re: Pagan's Mind

Yeh ive seen this band live and ive met them all too, and i can honestly say that they probably have the best live sound i have ever seen... and Nils is a singing genius! he has a very particlar voice...and yeh he goes very high but with a very thick tone even in head voice...

Re: Pagan's Mind

Hey everyone. I will be cheking out all of these myspace pages within the next few days. Most definitely. Always like to hear new stuff. Will let you know what I think...

Re: Pagan's Mind

OK here it is:
Paul, checked out myspace and looks like I will be picking up an album in the near future. You guys are definitely prog, for sure. Great vocals. I like your voice a lot. It's very clean. Yeah, I like it. And I see the band has a "Shades of Gray" friend. I'm very familiar with her voice and music. She's got a great voice too. I didn't know you had a Van Halen drummer...I mean Van Helden. When I first read his name I thought it said Van Halen. I was like wow, they got Van Halen in their band. You guys ever play PP USA or Europe?

Beautiful Sin: hey great music too. I like this a lot. Magali, you got the vocal thing down. I like the "grit." Nice stuff there. And yes, I'll be picking up an album in the near future!!!

Lee Muria...caught you off Magali's myspace. Nice vocals too.

Love this singing stuff!!!!

Sun Caged

Hi Nancy,

Thanks for the comments! The band has played prog power Europe, and almost played prog power usa, but that's when the previous singer and keyboardist split. Now that our new album is out and good reviews are coming in, we're hoping to get very active again!

Yes, Colleen Gray is a friend of the band. A very cool lady and great singer. Actually she came over to Holland last January and we sang together for the cd presentation of Marcel Coenen's (Sun Caged guitarist) solo album. That concert also became Marcel's live dvd.

take care :)
