THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Hey Jaime,

I wanted to tell you that I found a local teacher, she is a level 4 sls teacher and is classically trained and educated. I brought my ryv book and showed her some of the stuff and she said she agreed with you. How cool is that :) She has different names for stuff like she calls the power push leaning into the sound and is very open to what you have already taught me. I can already do 3 octaves on a vowel and it is all because of you my friend!!!!!!! She is working more on breath control while I sing, for some reason when I start to sing I get more breathy and throaty but I am learning to focus on what is happening and I am trying to sing more without my guitar as my crutch hehehehehe I just wanted to say thank you for the time and heart that you have put into the book as well as this site!!!!!!

I am beginning to think that there is hope for me :)

Re: Range

Chris does this teacher has a web page it's not that usual to see SLS teacher exercising breathing&support.

Re: Range

Abe, you beat me o the question. That is awesome. Yeah se doesn't teachure SLS, which is cool because singing without true support is limiting your total ability. Glad you found a cool teacher. Good luck!!!;)

Re: Range

I think it must be because she taught for like 10 years before she got into sls so she is open minded to everything. She told me that the 3 octave range I already had on the first lesson and she could not take credit for that...
That is definately from your exercises....

Abe, no she doesnt have a website.

We will have to see how long I can combine both without conflict but like I said, she is calling stuff by different names but says my technique is excellant!!! Thats where you take a bow Jaime hahahaha

Re: Range

Listen, good technique is good technique and if she is helpig you improve, who cares what name she calls it, as long as it makes sense.

Re: Range

Absolutely - Although my point was that the reason why I have the technique that I have is because I have followed RYV religously :) I was giving you props!!!!

Re: Range

I caught that earlier but I am a very humble man:) I do appreciate your kind words and I am happy you are progressing.
