THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Whistle Register / Adam Lopez

I just talked with Adam online he sent me a link to one of his you tube performances where he uses the whistle register if you would like to see:

Re: Whistle Register / Adam Lopez

you talked to adam ???!?!?! :O where??!?! XD

Re: Whistle Register / Adam Lopez

Aweome, maybe you should do an interview with him for The Voice Connection. You've read the interviews so you should know how to put together 20 or 30 questions based on Adam and his music and technique. And it would be an awesome way to get yourself out there as an interviewer ;) I am behind you if you want this challenge and will help in any way you need. I'll even send him a book if you'd like. Drill him on the whistle voice :)

Re: Whistle Register / Adam Lopez

Actually its funny you said that because over a year ago I actually did an interview with him for my college.

I can post the questions asked and I believe i still have the audio files, its not very in depth just some broad questions, although I can ask him about doing another interview. The time we get to talk is very few in between because hes been so busy just like you Jamie :)

Re: Whistle Register / Adam Lopez

ah yeah I found the audio files, and I got the questions. I'm not totally sure where to upload these files or where to put them but these are the questions I had asked:

1.How did you get started in the singing proffesion?
2. Out of all the singing proffesion areas why did you choose the ones you did?
3. What would be a typical day on the day of a performance also practicing or warming up?
4. What communication skill is the most important in doing your job well?
5. What do you do to maintain your voice?
6. What have you done to get to where you are in this profession?
7. What are things you could change about your career if you could and why?

Additional questions:
1. Whats you favorite thing you like about singing?
2. How often do you perform?
3. Are their any accomplishments in the singing profession you'd like to
mention?
4. How do you feel about your income?
5. How long do you think it takes to become a great singer?
6. To get your many octaves did you work on each note, or did it come natural?

Re: Whistle Register / Adam Lopez

If you are on speaking terms with Adam, perhaps you could ask him to answer some additional questions, such as giving any tips for developing the whistle voice, what was his range before he began serious study, what does his vocal technique entail, etc... Also, do you only have the audio or did you type it out? Email me personally at venderaj@msn.com and we'll make this happen. You'll get full credit and if Adam wants to plug anything new he is doing now, we'll focus on that as well :)

Re: Whistle Register / Adam Lopez

Hi,
yes, would be very interesting to know some tricks to achieve whistle register.
Exercises etc.
I´d be very glad about it.
My range stops at around A above tenor high C in the moment.

Re: Whistle Register / Adam Lopez

I'm trying to find the questions I had asked him, yesterday my computer basically shut off and wouldn't load back into Windows. I'm pretty upset since I was also working on some college work, currently I'm using the crappy computer in our home. I will try and get the questions and answers as soon as I can. Sorry for the delay.
