THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

hey jaime any advise for a bass?

Hi jaime.
My teacher constantly keep reminding me that a bass singer cannot hit a high c. It's been 3 months now and I can barely hit a G4 in full voice the way she likes it. But at home when I practice ryv at a 50% volume, i can get my c5. Do you think those upper notes will one day sound more full the way "she" likes it? She's really into opera style u see, while i'm more into dio, whitesnake, and 80's rock.
Is there any hope for us bass?

Re: hey jaime any advise for a bass?

Alex,

Have you read my book??? It has all the answers. first off, I am a bass... With a 6 octave range! My teacher told me the exact same thing and to "give up trying to sing Whitesnake" Did I listen? Watch the "Glass shatterinmg Montage" video on the videos link and you tell me ;)Yes there is hope my friend and PLENTY of it. Sorry to tell ya, but your vocal coach is W-R-O-N-G!!!

Re: hey jaime any advise for a bass?

Thanks jaime you've given me hope. I was so depressed yesterday after my lesson.
U see here in Tahiti there aren't much vocal coach. And this fat lady is the only one I found that offers good price(around 440$ a year for 45mn by week)at some sort of traditional art school(painting, maori dancing, classical guitar, piano, drums and lyrical singing). And she only teaches to people above 20.
She also offered me to join the "choral" and rehearse their version of FAUST. I've been so impressed by the other singers that I told her that I was not ready yet. There were like 40 or 50 people around 40years old singing with such power and presence that it made me look like shit.

But at least she corrected my breathing, my posture and my attack of a note(starting on the note and not sliding to it from below). In 3 months so far she only made me work to an F#4. But i'm so hungry for more. So when she said that I can't go to a C5 and that it was useless, I felt really depressed. I was thinking that I should quit.

But you gave me hope.
I'm just hoping that one day you'll come to Tahiti for a holiday. So like that I could get a chance to meet you. Thanks a lot man (merci beaucoup) (maruru).
ps: When will your next book come out?
