THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

My favorite version of the national anthem share yours! :)

Does anyone know if I could get a version similar to this? I love how it goes into like a rock type sound after the first verse.

Re: My favorite version of the national anthem share yours! :)

I like the version that Steve Vai did on the MTV Rock and Jock softball game. Vocally, I can't think of any great versions except Whitney at the Super Bowl quite a few years ago.

Re: My favorite version of the national anthem share yours! :)

wasn't hers lip synced though? I looked hers up on youtube again and it looks lip synced. Did you check out the link ? I think thats my favorite besides whitney's.

I'll have to check out that guys.

Actually if you look up Cher's national anthem its actually quite good and you really wouldn't expect it.

Re: My favorite version of the national anthem share yours! :)

Yep. Whitney's version of the anthem is one of the biggest frauds ever! I believe she did record it in one take but PRIOR to the Super Bowl, and then she just mouthed to her own voice.

Re: My favorite version of the national anthem share yours! :)

It is still a great version. I know she lip synched it at the Super Bowl. I also know that she was the one that originally sang it in the studio. She did not pull a Milli Vanilli. Most sporting events feature some lip synching, because it is too hard to dial in the sound with all the echoes and dead spots.

Re: My favorite version of the national anthem share yours! :)

I prefer it when national anthems are not changed at all.

Phelps is phenomenal though.

Re: My favorite version of the national anthem share yours! :)

I just found it unique that he did the last verse ,instead of just doing the 1st. Hopefully one day I'll be able to sing as well as that :)

^ Josh Groban's National Anthem (done sometime in 2001, I think).

This is the best one I've heard, IMO. I get goose bumps every time.
