THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

My new routine... comments please :)

OK, so now that I think I've whined enough, I finally decided to get my act together and make a routine that is perfect for me :D... sooooo post your comments on it and tell me what do you think :D... (It's basically a combination of jaime's stuff with "sls" things)

ROUTINE:

1. VSR
2. Lip bubble scales
3. Tongue trill scales
4. Nay scales
5. Mum scales
- (lip bubbles to prepare for RYV exercises)
6. F. Slide
7. T. Tone
8. Siren
(lip bubbles to prepare for actuallly singing)
9. 3 songs (I'm now doing easy "on my range" stuff, but I'll get wacky in the next months... at least I hope so :D)
10. Warmdown

Stuff i will add when I feel comfortable:

- Grit exercises
- vibrato exercises
- (hopefully sooner than later) whistle exercises

Stuff I do during the day:

- 80 or more bullfrogs
- I'm gonna take tae kwondo (is that how u write it??) or something in order to develop physically.
- Hear music and daydream XD

so there it is :D... I perfomed my first routine some minutes ago and let me tell it feels great... no strain whatsoever (I checked doing the neck thing that Jaime says).... I know someone may say some of the exercises are unnecesary (like the tongue trills, or well to my friends and family all of this is useless coz they just think I should not sing... but hey ...screw them!!) but I decided to do them according to my needs...

I would really appreciate any observations, tips, and/or comments... :D (especially from Jaime, but ALL comments are REALLY useful)

PS: Hang in there Brandon XD ...

Re: My new routine... comments please :)

Add the ultimate breathing workout in there and you're set :)

Re: My new routine... comments please :)

i'm not going to say the routine is bad, but i will say it may be too much too soo. Just make sure you dont over do it. You may get bored and quit your routine.

Re: My new routine... comments please :)

Johnny: Whoops you're right ! i have no exercises in there especifically for breathing... and BTWI unluckily do not own UBW... but I do practice some that one coach I had for two classes gave....BUT i forgot to include them and forgot doing them todaY! so thx for the observation!

Jordan: yeah I know it kinda sounds like a lot, but luckily I am on my vacations and I don't have much more to do than singing... but you are right... I will Observe not overdoing it... hahahah you would freak out on how obsessive I am anyway hahahaha... thx!

plz! people post all your comments so that I know if I am on the right track!

Re: My new routine... comments please :)

COUGH COUGH Jaime plz say something COUGH COUGH

Re: My new routine... comments please :)

what exactly is the bullfrogs technique I remember reading about it. I think over break I will reread it all over again.

Re: My new routine... comments please :)

J I think we cannot give explanations of the techniques themselves because jaime is opening a new forum in the members section just for discussing RYV techniques in depth.... if you still need help, mail jaime but be very patient as he is now insanely busy .....

Re: My new routine... comments please :)

Routine looks fine. If you can handle it, then stick to it. But, don't get overwhelmed and quit doing the routine two weeks from now. Your voice likes na set schedule. So stick to it ;)
