THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Here goes!

Hi everybody!

Today I've done my first Vocal stress release in the 7-week program and I'm really excited about this. For the record: Current range C2-D4 and singing bass in a a cappela group. Falsetto goes C3-C6.

How it went? Well I've been coughing on and of for a week, and when I had done a couple of resonance hums and started getting up the scale my sinuses started pouring down slime and yucky stuff ^^. Interesting. After every hum I had to go spit some out. Didn't want that in my head anyway

2 questions:
-I have no idea if I've even gotten those chords to zip up in full voice, but I sang a song which is high for me after the VSR, just fooling around, and I found some very weak and unstable voice that was not falsetto in which the song was not a problem (ei. strainless). Is that it?
-I ordered the printversion of RYV ~2 weeks ago but it hasn't arrived yet. Anybody know how long shipping from the states to northern europe takes?

Peace out!
Johan

Re: Here goes!

Johan,

Sometimes it takes weeks for the book to get to Europe. It has been scientifically proven that humming will open the sinuses and help you to expel mucous. I would have to hear you to know if the cords are zipping properly, but if it is unstable, I would guess that you are straining.

Re: Here goes!

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah I think I read something about humming and expelling mocous (how's that spelled again?) in the health part of the book. It's cool that you sent me the e-book, now I have all ready begun practising.

I'll try around some more and then I'll try to get up a sample of me singing later.

Re: Here goes!

Ok, I've been watching the video with Josh Morrison and singing along and now i've been sirening upp to C5 all week . This is awesome! It feels like I'm improving every day ^^. Now I just gotta get that tone right...
