THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

A noticeable difference in 6 days!

I am a struggling musician. I'm just a common guy who's trying to be successful as a singer and guitarist. I've been singing for approximately 6 years now and have developed a 4 and 1/2 octave range in the process. Regardless of this, I have still found myself straining with highs (especially with force behind them) and usually end up reverting to a somewhat weak falsetto to save my voice when it's already too late. I've had this book for 6 days and can already notice a strengthening falsetto, a full voice that doesn't break as easily, and a new comfortability with the high notes that once inhibited me. I can't wait to hear what my voice sounds like when I've been practicing these techniques for weeks or months! "Raise Your Voice" is the most comprehensive vocal instruction book I've ever read, and I've read quite a few books and articles on the subject. I applaud Mr. Vendera for being one of the few people to consider scream-singing just as valid an art form as jazz or blues and, more importantly, SHOWING YOU HOW IT'S DONE! I recommend this book to anyone who takes their music as seriously as I do. It will increase the longevity of your career exponentially, but ONLY if you're willing to put in the work. Nothing in this world worth having comes easily. Mr. Vendera, thank you so much for the help you've ALREADY given me. My appreciation for your contribution to my dreams can only grow in leaps and bounds.

Yeah, I know he's a cool guy. He's a friend of mine on myspace and we've spoken several times. He's quite amazing.
