THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Lowering range

hi!!
jaime i have a doubt.
i am working in the transcending tone exercise and
is very cool! so.. i am lowering my range in that
exercise.. but.. can i be as low as C3?? I konw
falsetto is a thing with little ressonance but since
i can make these notes with little ressoance and
transcend to a full voice, can they be added to the
exercise?

TOday i started with G3 then i lowered until i reached
C3 too. Also can this be used with falsetto slide too?

this is good for coordinating the low notes

Re: Lowering range

Your falsetto will only go so low so the T.T. exercise isn't a great exercise for actually gaining low notes. Try the suggestions towards the back of RYV about lowering your range. You CAN get some really low notes. Watch this videa and hear me hit an A 2 1/2 octaves below middle C ;)

Re: Lowering range

To save the video, go to this site

http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php

At the top of this site there is a box where you enter the url of the video you want to save. So for jaime's video you would paste

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=641783534&n=2

Then click on download and just below, a new button will appear sayin "download link"
Click on that and you'll be able to download the video as a .flv file.

To watch it you'll have to download a flash video player which you can get at

http://www.flvplayer.com/

Re: Lowering range

Thanks!
hey jaime.. still doing the transcending tone on
low notes is a good way to get cool coordinations,
right?

Thanks

Re: Lowering range

Most definitely. But it's not a powerful exercise for extending your lower range.
