THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

The previous post was posted by fake Ben. There is a lot of truth in what he is saying though.

Re: 2 octave siren G3-G5

Sorry, I meant to post as me instead of Mr. Halford. I can get a fairly high siren for me but it's very pinched and I can't figure out how to make it resonate out. It's like the sound gets cut off when I switch gears.
And no I'm not going to siren on maaaayyyyy. lol

Re: 2 octave siren G3-G5

Perform the siren slowly and concentrate on that resonance in the palate. Make the sound big and resonant. If you are not properly warmed up you are wasting your time.

Re: 2 octave siren G3-G5

Agreed with Val.

You were actually pretty smooth to the ear but cracked at the E5 to F#5.

I would say this is because of a brief moment of too much air and perhaps not being warmed up.

The sirens are pretty easy to perform this fast though. Slow it down and make sure it's smooth so you're not racing over the problematic areas which I dare say would not be that bump at E5.

Also sustain the top nope until you cant sustain it any longer (or slide back down).

Re: 2 octave siren G3-G5

Yeah Doug that is my number one problem. Warming up is fine , i think i am doing that right. But its too much air i use on high notes that causes problems and iritates my vocal cords while i practice. Any tips on that? I still maintain a powerpush down there.
