THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Watch this video. It will help you understand.
Hey Val! Great video. This is very very informative. Thanks. If you type before your link and after your link, it will provide a hyperlink that you can just click on when you post instead of having to copy and paste it into a browser.

Re: The bad rising larynx

open the mouth as wide as possible when practicing on the AHH. do it as bright as you can. correct vowel modifications are needed also, most people try to keep the same sound on the bottom as they do on the top, the sound will be inconsistent because the top will become shrieky, and it will be harder to hit higher notes.

Re: The bad rising larynx

Holy crapiola! I have heard A LOT of singers on these forums, and you are by far the best. Great range, power, and tone. Now I know RYV truly works! I didn't even notice the gibberish because I was so taken aback by the flawless technique and unique delivery. The musical style is unlike anything I have ever heard before. Wow, awesome stuff, brother!!! Honestly, nobody should post their singing unless they are confident as hell they're better than Phil. Seriously. I don't even wanna post how I sound because Phil is light years away. Great work. Post more!

Re: The bad rising larynx

This thread went off course for a bit so I cleaned it up ;) Please let's all take a big breath, relax and move on... Or stick to the original topic of the inquirer :) Thanks guys!

Re: The bad rising larynx

Well that's annoying, now there are posts above that don't make sense because we don't know why they were posted. I for one want to see what Phil posted...

Re: The bad rising larynx

Doug you've already heard the demo, i posted it to you a few weeks back. I just sent you a message just then on facebook about the thread.

Re: The bad rising larynx

Sorry guys, I didn't want to lock the whole thread in case other poeple had constructive ideas to offer ;)

Re: The bad rising larynx

The larynx can really be tricky. In my case, the only way I could make a yawn effect was by using my tongue as leverage. This took my tongue way out of singing position. I can finally isolate the muscles required for the yawn effect with my tongue in its proper position but it's not a natural feeling for me. So I know that I need to practice this quite a bit until I can produce the bullfrog effect while my tongue is down and close to my bottom row of teeth.
