THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Testosterone

Yo how are y'all! I'm cool and tight, chilling out on Friday night!
Okay so let's get to the point. So basically the whole summer holiday I was just messing around, chilling, sleeping... basically doing nothing...hey that's what holidays are for right?
So..but about two weeks ago I started lifting weights/workin out again cause I've been taking a break from THAT too lol
So I'm working hard, sweating, flexing, pumping, all that good stuff. Getting in shape again and all that.
Today I practiced my singing and I noticed right off the bat that my voice sound WAY less weak and light and um...trebly I guess? than before! My voice is now a bit deeper and bassier and more full voicey
I started practicing singing in the summer holiday, but in the holiday I also stopped training. So maybe now that I'm working out again (hardcore) my testosterone levels are going thru the roof and that might be making my voice deeper.
So does anyone know if boosted testosterone levels from doing squats and deadlifts and all that manly stuff actually have an influence on your singing voice or am I just imagining things?
And how would this work for women?
Not sure about all this but it's food for thought eh?

Could be that you are still growing, your vocal mechanism isn't fully mature yet.

Re: Testosterone

You want to really boost your Testosterone?

Start eating eggs.

I used to be a Power-lifter. Testosterone is made from Cholesterol.

65% Fat/35% Protein/5% Carbohydrates.

Learn it, Live it, love it!
That will allow you to pack on muscle without any excess body fat.

Re: Testosterone

Squats are an excellent way to strengthen your support if done properly. Inhale as you go down and exhale when you ascent pushing down as for the power push. As if propelling yourself off the floor. Make sure you are not squeezing your throat when applying strength. You are teaching your body that whatever is going on below your chest and down doesn't affect your throat. Top and down parts of your body are independent.

Re: Testosterone

Yo thanks ya'll for all yo answers! I guess I AM kinda young so my voice must still be developing. And yea I eat eggs every morning, never get sick of em
And oisello I actually squat everytime I use Power Push and try to get grit. Not all the way down, but I just squat a LIL bit. So I guess it's an automatic thing for me, which is really cool cuz it really helps
