THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

annoying mucus problems

Hey girls and dudes :)
I´ve had terrible mucus problems for a week now and I don´t know what to do about it.
As soon as I start to exercise or to sing I imediately have to much mucus on my folds. When I am singing it sucks the most..... I have to clear my throat constantly and when I say constantly I mean constantly! I know tat it is very harmfull to clear my throat and I know that I get even more mucus on my folds by clearing my throat but if I don´t clear my throat and remove this mucus my voice cracks breaks and feels uncomfortable, at the end of my singing exercise I also seem to have a larynx that feels very "heavy" and swollen but no pain and no problem with talking......what do you think are my problems???
ah yes another thing I stay hydrated over day so that certainly isn´t te problem

Greets,
René

Re: annoying mucus problems

Sorry to hear your having these mucus issues. It sounds to me like the first thing I would do is check your diet. Over production of mucus is usually due to an overly acidic diet. If you check online for acidic foods vs alkaline foods you can get a good idea of how your body is reacting to the food you eat. It will produce more mucus and clog up our system when you eat to acidic. You may also be allergic to some of the foods you are eating. Also you can check out my blog at Superiorvocalhealth.blogspot.com or thru our website Superiorvocalhealth.com and you will find many articles about over production of mucus and diet for singers.
Good luck,
David Aaron Katz

Re: annoying mucus problems

Maybe you just have a minor cold?

Re: annoying mucus problems

Could be a cold or allergies. Do yo have acid reflux? Try 1/2 spoon of organic apple cider vinegar in some water or juice before your meals. It should help.
