THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: Anyone want to do reviews/interviews?

... so spread your wings so we get some great singers talking about their approach and what they're up to lately:)

Jaime,

Is there a list of specific questions that should be asked? Sort of like a standard 20 Questions to ask everyone? and If not, perhaps there should be - that would make it easier.

My younger brother is the local Arts and Entertainment Editor for North Florida's "Folio Weekly", and as soon as he found out Queensryche was coming in November - he had them send me tickets. He may be able to get me backstage - I haven't asked him.... so this connection may gain me access to a lot of people, or it may not - I simply don't know. (Hey, I was just happy to get the free tickets to Queensryche. It is in a 900 person capacity hall that has an amazing sound system installed.)
I was considering trying to get an interview with Geoff Tate set up but not sure how to go about it. I was thinking I might send something to Queensryche's Drummer Scott Rockenfield and ask him to pass it on, since he is really active on Youtube.

I've asked people before but they either didn't bother to respond, or perhaps just didn't take my request seriously.

Re: Anyone want to do reviews/interviews?

Yeah you'd have to contact the people in management or someone who knows him. BTW-n I am referring to written interviews. Of course you could audio tape it, but then it would need transferred to a document. Also, I am getting people asking about the PTD-1 hint, hint;)

Re: Anyone want to do reviews/interviews?

Read some of the old interviews and you'll come up with a 20Q;)

Re: Anyone want to do reviews/interviews?

The PTD-1 is currently available through Petalamund.com. The training guide was re-written and includes some of the more esoteric breathing exercises.... There is a "Healing Mystery School" that uses it for their Pranic breath training, so they asked if some of those type of breath exercises could be incorporated into the booklet, so it was revamped for them.

Re: Anyone want to do reviews/interviews?

That's great but you should REALLY still have vocalistsdirect.com because people who own TUBW have been asking about it.

That will be coming up. I'm working in fits and spurts right now - it is a situation of stop start, stop start, stop start. You know, the old "Hurry up and wait!" LOL
Finding regular work here is a nightmare - one of my closest friends is a bass player, and he has lost all his gear trying to stay afloat, including several custom made Spector basses. If you don't have a usable degree - it isn't a good time to be unemployed.
