THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: Dry throat from water

I honestly use Xooma every day and it works for me;) Even got James Labrie using it:)

Re: Dry throat from water

Okay! So here I am again with the results!

I've been going on with pure sea salt now since I got the tip. Sure tastes better but it hasn't really affected my results a lot. Same goes with Xooma, great product but I get even more dry in my throat after drinking that, but the rest of my body loves it. What seemed to work for me though is when I combine honey in some hot water. That's the only time I don't feel any dryness at all. Does that mean I'm a diabetic or something, because I sill get dry from drinking clear water. I find this really strange. I've even adjusted my diet to match with better health care and daily intake of minerals and vitamins.

I'm quite lost. Might go to a doctor to see wth the problem is :)

Re: Dry throat from water

Does this happen only when you sing? May be your technique is a bit off and is drying out your vocal cords faster then you can hydrate your throat.

It takes about 20 min for the body to assimilate your water intake and redistribute it in your body. Try gargling water for immediate results.

Re: Dry throat from water

It concerns drinking water in general. I always get dry from drinking water. I even tested to drink about 10 liters of water each day for a week, and I still got the same problem.

While singing it won't affect me as long as I don't drink water. The moment I swallow some water I feel dry directly for about an hour. It gets even worse if I'm nervous, but I can't be nervous all the time 24/7, if nervousness would be the cause (I live quite a slack life). So I though it was my body that didn't really absorb water well. I followed a great salt tip and I bought xooma for better hydration. I can feel a personal difference in health and body except for my throat.
