THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Happy to Join the Community and 1 Question...

Hello, I'm new and glad to be here. I've read Raise your Voice and also have Jaime's book about breathing techniques so I was wondering if I could do the Raise your voice program and the breathing program at the same time or if that would tax my lungs and voice too much. Keep in mind that I'm new and haven't worked on singing techniques previously. Thanks!

Re: Happy to Join the Community and 1 Question...

good question brother.
i think jaime is the only person to answer this but i´m practising the raise your voice examples also train your support! so i think no problems mixing the two methods but probably you will have muscle stiffness
, better than go to the gym!!!

Re: Happy to Join the Community and 1 Question...

The breathing exercises will benefit your singing a LOT. Just work up to doing both programs, don't start it all at once. Its a ton of stuff to be doing. Also, make sure you don't half ass one of them to do the other, that won't help anything.

Re: Happy to Join the Community and 1 Question...

Start with Raise our voice and integrate more exercise as you go. The other breathing exercise are extensions of what the RYV program already has; they work together for sure. You can use both to change it up and keep your work diverse and interesting.

Re: Happy to Join the Community and 1 Question...

You can do them both together. That ws one of the reasons I created the diary, which allows you to track it all every day;)

Re: Happy to Join the Community and 1 Question...

Thanks for the input everybody! Off to go practice.
