THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: New Year Resolution!

Ben
I know that this isn't as good, but "Stan you have a beautiful voice." :) I hope that helps. hahahah! Do you have any clips of you singing? I'm scared to post mine. Have you had a lot of lessons with Val?

I was only kidding about what I said, lol. I only had one lesson with Val, she's fantastic. And being that she's Jaime's protege makes it even better!

Re: New Year Resolution!

Yeah, I knew it was a joke. I was joking back with you! Silly goose! :) I think I'll try to take more lessons with her as funds become available. I really feel like I got more than my money's worth. She actually talked with me for about 10 minutes longer than she had to to make sure I was clear on everything and didn't have any other questions. It was nice to have a lot of, what seemed to me, to be abstract ideas from RYV solidified into concrete ideas that I can understand now. Sometimes the written words didn't translate into a concept in my mind just right. It's all actually a lot more simple than I thought. Thanks Val! Rock on brother Stan.

Re: New Year Resolution!

I'm glad it was a great lesson Ben. Get 15 more.

Re: New Year Resolution!

Stan, were you not going through bronchitis when we had our lesson? I'd love to hear your voice when you're healthy ;) You sounded like a great singer too!

Actually, it was laryngitis. I couldn't sing anything for over a month. It was horrible. I wanna get lessons again but I'm missing a webcam. I should get a new laptop soon.

Ben, besides Jaime's program, I use James Lugo's, which is amazing. And sometimes I do Kevin Richards' Breaking the Chains.

Re: New Year Resolution!

Cool stan! Are you happy with the progress you have made since starting to train your voice? What kind of music do you sing?

Re: New Year Resolution!

Yeah I would say it's been going good. I had the best band rehearsel last night and feeling quite confident. I sing mostly metal.

Re: New Year Resolution!

Do you have any recordings? I'd love to hear you sing.

Re: New Year Resolution!

Not yet but soon :)

Re: New Year Resolution!

Do you do a lot of screaming?

Re: New Year Resolution!

Nah, don't know how yet

Re: New Year Resolution!

Me either! I was going to ask you how you do it. :)

Re: New Year Resolution!

hahah! Thanks man. I will when I can afford it. I've got RYV, Breaking the Chains, Zen of Screaming(the one good thing I got from this one was the "over the pencil" placement thing. That really helped me get my voice out of my throat and into the mask), and about 50 other books/cds/dvds to work with between lessons. What programs to do you use besides Oisellessons?

Re: New Year Resolution!

Does she say that to all the boys!?!? I HOPE NOT! hahahhahahahh! Seriously, it was a great lesson. I'm inspired to sing my guts out again. I was starting to lose steam.
