THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: Critique my new band and my singing!

really good i loved the screams, do u practice RYV??

Re: Critique my new band and my singing!

Thanks, glad you liked it :) I think myself that some parts sound great and some parts are just way off in my singing. But it's a brand new band and I'm so excited and I feel sooo good about it!

Right now I don't really practice RYV, I do speech level stuff (singing success) which is sooo great I improve much faster now :) I guess it just suits my voice, my style and my situation so well, something just 'clicks' better now and Singing Success stuff makes so much sense to mee. I still do some things from the RYV book and read it sometimes. I'm gonna come back to it when I feel it's time for it.

Re: Critique my new band and my singing!

good stuff liked ballady tune. a bit old school michael jackson in a way, i think you've got it, i reckon if you work more on your pitch and work on letting your voice go free and do more complex riffs with the voice. the voice is like a guitar, you play guitar if you try to hum as you play lead guitar you'll pick up bends and vibratos and other tricks that you normally do on guitar. when your voice gets heavier in the song your tone sounds fantastic, i think the pitch issues are the main thing, good job!

Re: Critique my new band and my singing!

Thanks for feedback, you're right on with the pitch thing. That's the main issue that I hear too. It's not that I don't hear the right pitch in my head, I can hear that I sing out of tune while I'm doing it so it's a kind of control issue. I'm going to simply work on that and also just relax more while I sing.

"the voice is like a guitar..." I like that :)
