THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: Singorama?

Jens
Vocal release by eric frey is scam, in the demonstrations of his exercises he didnt even hit the right pitches...

i don't know about that, but it even if it's true it doesn't make it scam, there's a lot of good info

Re: Singorama?

yeah i see what you mean. sometimes the information is good but the teacher just isn't at the right level yet. i could for example repackage jaime's ideas into my own singing thing, and the info would be correct but my demonstrations wouldn't be right because i'm not on the right level yet.

however, in the end i prefer to learn from someone that has done it all and has reached a high level through that particular method, so that i know i can achieve that type of level by practicing their way.

there are a lot of good singers that can't tell you how they do what they do, and vice versa.

alex, could you please explain what the thing in the torrent is all about? what type of training do they go through? i would imagine it's all about scales and not much emphasis on support (from what i heard on the sample the guy didn't really support his notes, also sounded like his pitch was off) not saying my pitch is perfect, but i wouldn't want to put up my voice on a finished track until it is pretty much spot on.

Re: Singorama?

yeah that's why i said that the RYV is best........sorry i'm too lazy to check and write what there is, but if you want i can send you that pdf file via email

Re: Singorama?

Singorama is ok for a basic singing course I suppose. Nothing groundbreaking though. There are much better books out there. I'd recommend Raise your Voice by Jaime Vendera (Which you probably have already), Complete Vocal Technique by Catherine Sadolin, and if you can afford it, Four pillars of Singing by Robert Lunte.
They're all very good books, and are pretty cutting edge, as singing pedagogy goes. These people REALLY know their stuff.
