THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: Me singing unholy confessions by avenged sevenfold

I can get the high notes too when practising but singing is another story :( But I guess we both know the answer. Practise, practise and practise.

Re: Me singing unholy confessions by avenged sevenfold

i'm just trying to put my posts back at the top of the "index" cuz i'm sick of nobody replying to my posts lol.
it's like they don't like me or something.
please reply!
singing is my life.

Re: Me singing unholy confessions by avenged sevenfold

In my opinion, you need to hum *a lot.
re read the techniques (with an emphasis on supporting, resonance and placement)
And man, practice the falsetto slide exactly by the direction with *HUGE* focus.
I mean it man.
It's like *meditating* on technique while doing it.
this works freaking fast if you put your whole attention for correct technique.
(make sure you do the VSR and the warm-ups before and focus especially on humming)

you also need to make sure you sound natural (even though you will use the yawning sensation)
let us know how it goes in two weeks for now, practicing 6 times a week.. :)

Re: Me singing unholy confessions by avenged sevenfold

the falsetto slide confuses me. i started doing it in 8th grade (i'm a junior now) and i stopped after thinking i "graduated" from it. (i can transist between chest voice and head voice with no breaks when i do it quietly...but it's almost too easy so i'm starting to think i did it wrong.)

if you wanna hear me sing in falsetto you can:
http://www.box.net/shared/y1qu3yc5es

but do you think you could maybe post like a tutorial of how to do the falsetto slide? i have the audio files but i'm kind of confused.
and placement and support are the two things i can't do. i breathe with my diaphragm, but other than that i'm lost.

ALSO, you should check out my emarosa cover. it's MUCH better than this one. it's the second post in the "index" right now.
this one i did while lying on my bed and i took very very shallow breaths..i totally winged it. listen to the other one please. i forgot that this one was the bad one lol

Re: Me singing unholy confessions by avenged sevenfold

oh, and i DO hum a lot.
like, i hum all the time. check out the other one please and criticize that one, cuz that's a better picture of my actual limits.
and sorry for the raspiness in that one part, i can't sing an "oh" vowel high or it gets raspy.

Re: Me singing unholy confessions by avenged sevenfold

and for that falsetto song i sent you, it's meant to be really quiet and unsupported. i was imitating this kid on youtube for fun that also did a very quiet cover of the song.
