THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: Raise Your Voice DVD?

I know, I know I'm a slacker;) Will eventually have DVDs out for RYV. Actually filming some video today for the Extreme Scream series YES this is the SAME series I have been talking about for three friggin years! Seems the gods of metal have finally decided to make this series come to fruition. And I gotta tell you, this first release do out in June/July is focused on extreme vocals from bands like All that Remains, Strapping Young Lad, White Chapel, etc. and it features some of the most brutal screams I've ever heard. It was recorded with one of my students and myself. I think I coughed up a demon on the screams I did;) And Bryan Kelly from Severed Chains has some of the best deth screams I have ever heard!

Re: Raise Your Voice DVD?

I can't wait to get the Screaming stuff. Is this going to have Ray West on it?

Re: Raise Your Voice DVD?

I'm not into extreme vocals as heard often in death or black but I'm very interested in getting this just to impress my cousin who lives and breaths that "demonic" music

Re: Raise Your Voice DVD?

I would like it to be like Jaime´s "the zen of screaming" version. I would buy it right away!.

Re: Raise Your Voice DVD?

I hope it has some rock/metal rasp in there and not only pure death metal screaming.

Re: Raise Your Voice DVD?

Completely agree. I don't care much at all for death metal screams and growls, but that's all I can ever find when I'm looking for material on rasp and grit.

I really hope there is going to be a DVD on HARD ROCK rasp and grit. Hard rock like Buck Cherry, GNR, Velvet Revolver, Nickelback, Hinder, etc.

Re: Raise Your Voice DVD?

I can relate to you on that Hardrocker1.

I'm big on developing vocal qualities that singers such as James Hetfield (early), James Labrie (early) and Michael Jackson had. The intensity and rage of hetfield, with the high and vibrato laden rock voice of labrie with the sharp and soulfoul voice of jackson. I think Jaime's book is more aimed at this hardrock high range voice rather than the death metal grit (nothing against it, just not after that type of voice), so a dvd would be great! i believe you can learn alot more when receiving the same information in different mediums.

Re: Raise Your Voice DVD?

Hey guys, in NY filming a show. As far as the grit thing, my screaming series is finally being released. The deth screams is only weeks away. It's being mixed. Next is the grit like metallica, velvet revolver, etc. Also, FYI I was asked to sing while in NY for. Very big band. So I did;) all I can say is u might be seeing me do some of that crazy grit on tour soon;)

Re: Raise Your Voice DVD?
