THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: James Labrie's famous F#

I see what's going on here, he has some sort of agenda. World domination perhaps? lol

Re: James Labrie's famous F#

On another James related note this is from his site.

Hey Everyone,

Very cool words being said and the chat just never seems to end... Grin
Wanted to give you all the heads up. I begin vocals in the studio next Monday/ 26th. for the follow up to EOP. This album kicks nuclear ass, I can't wait to hear the feedback on this one.
I will keep you all in the loop throughout the vocal process. Can't wait to get behind the mic and blow it up.
Take care everyone and stay well.

James.

Re: James Labrie's famous F#

everyone mentions the famous F# in learning to live, but no one ever mentions the ENTIRE SONG on awake album: SCARRED. Jesus christ, he's hitting the highest notes THROUGHOUT the entire song.

Re: James Labrie's famous F#

There are definitely many awesome JLB moments. The reason f# is mention so much is because the whole band builds up to that one note in the song. All the climbing scales going back and forth, JLB singing very softly throughout then guitar buildup then .... woaaaa woaaaa woaaaaAAAAAAAAA!!!! Guitar solo, keyboard solo, bass and drums feeding off eachother...oh yeah beautiful. Also I don't think he goes as high in scarred, I think the highest note is an E. Not that that is unimpressive or anything lol

Re: James Labrie's famous F#

What is the exercise that will make you sing in full voice? is it TT?

Re: James Labrie's famous F#

This is my high point when I get to the top of my 5 note scale warm up. It starts on the note below Labrie's f# and goes up to a c... I can hit the d now though thanks to Jaime.
