THE VOICE CONNECTION
SOUND OFF

Welcome to The Voice Connection Sound Off; a forum for users of books like Raise Your Voice, Melody to Madness, The Ultimate Breathing Workout, and Unleash Your Creative Mindset, as well as a place for Vendera Vocal Academy members to interact.

This message board was created so that singers could come together and "sound off" to help support each other during vocal development and the creative process of unleashing the creative spark that occurs when writing and producing music. Currently, myself and vocal coaches Ben Valen, Ray West, and Ryan Wall are here to respond periodicially to your questions, with new vocal coaches coming soon. But, feel free to help each other too:)

This board is here for you to ask questions about my and my fellow coach's books, videos, and MP3 programs, as well as offer others help with our vocal techniques. You may also post videos of yourself and your band to share your music and ask for critiques.

Please refrain from negative comments, profanities, spamming, and inappropriate criticisms of vocal methodologies, vocal coaches, and singers. All negative posts will be deleted and subject to banning without question. I will not respond to negative posts, because, as Mark Twain once said, “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.” With that said, positive criticism is welcome because that is how you'll grow as a singer during the training process.

Re: Tonsil Problems

Do you have any problems swallowing? Do your tonsils look inflamed?

The reason for the "4 times a year" rule, unlike the older rules where you'd just remove them in the first sign of trouble is that there is no conclusive evidence on whether the tonsils have an active role in the immune system yet there are some indications they could be the first line of defence. It's not only the UK NHS that has that rule in the world.

Either way, if the pain persists, you will have to insist to be seen by an ENT. Last year, I had tonsil pain and the health centre had me see a nurse, who dismissed me. I went back 2 days later with severe tonsillitis, unable to swallow anything and had to stay in hospital for 3 days...

Re: Tonsil Problems

First, go see a doctor to eliminate risk of bacteria of infection related problems. I had my tonsils removed at 18 and it did affect my voice quite badly at first. I overcame my vocal problems but it took a while. I don't think diet alone could produce such negative effects. I haven't heard of food allergy creating that kind of symptoms... You should really see a doctor.

Re: Tonsil Problems

personally i would be wary of anyone telling me to let them cut out something in my body and CHARGE ME MONEY FOR IT. the body isn't stupid, symptoms are it's healing process, despite what corporations tell you. the body will never try to harm itself. i will be back later with more information. busy atm

*Cough cough* autoimmune diseases *cough cough*.

The body can and does harm itself, when it malfunctions for whatever reason, be it an external factor, such as infection or even genetic mutation.

Re: Tonsil Problems

It is flattering that you hold the opinions of the members of this forum in such high regard. However with what you are discribing it could be something serious. I agree with Oiselle, do your best to see a ENT or someone. In the meantime if it is an irratated or infected area, try garggling apple cider vinigar deluted with water. Also take a look at this wiki.

I once had a few of these and it made my tonsils swell and like you it didn't affect my voice it was just sore to swallow. I managed to push them out. Still see a Doc. Hope you feel better
