12 year old lad.
Apparently, this mother has already been through Hell with the lad. I read an article at http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/1205062xmas1.html It shows the police report and also states that the young man has a record of disruptive behavior already. He has court dates pending for trying to assault a police officer last month. He has been "kicked out" of school for failure to follow rules. She says he "acts out" and steals. She is looking for any way she can to get help to "set him straight." Medicating the child doesn't seem to be working. (I have a separate opinion on that anyway) A person has to work WITH their medication for it to be effective. Ya hafta TRY...ya hafta WANNA! This woman is a 27 year old single mom and in my opinion is trying to stop him from following a "road to ruin." It must be a tough thing to have your own child arrested. So, I say God Bless her, instead of turning her back on him, she's utilizing every resource she can to turn him around. To those who say "NOW he'll have a record, she went too far..." I say- HORSE POOKY! He's already on the books for attempted assault on a police officer! ...this one is for stealing a Game Boy. One that was his anyway! All he had to do was use a little restraint and follow a simple rule. It wasn't asking too much of HIM. If something isn't done with him now at 12 years old--that "record" people are worrying about may turn to something a LOT worse. ...like armed robbery, possibly with innocent victims hurt, maimed or dead! You did the right thing, Mom...YOU GO GIRL!
