Literary Influences
My Literary Influences: Edgar Allen Poe Aldous Huxley William Blake WB Yeats Scriptures H.P.Lovecraft Virginia Woolf TS.Eliot Charles Dickens George Eliot Henry James Shakespeare Northrop Frye Sam Beckett Robert Graves These people help shape my intellect and creativity. From the time I was 3 I was reading Dickens and writing stories before I was 5. Which writers influenced you? Which ones shaped your thoughts? My fave novel was "A Wrinkle In Time." Although I have a real fondness for anything Huxley & Dickens. Warmest Light, Dodge |

Dodge, Having been in French School almost all my life, besides University. I have not had a chance to read much English Litterature. I have read many books along the way, however, I cannot say that any writer has influenced me. I am a lover of Anais Nin's diaries, yet I only had a chance to read 2 in full. The books I have read in the past twelve years include authors such as James Redfield, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Gary Zukov, Leo Buscaglia, Carol Adrienne, Stephen Covey, Julia Cameron...etc all people that have written about their spiritual journey, and shared their experiences... I hope that you are not too dissapointed.. Reflecting, Blossom |

No reason for me to be disappointed. I love Anais Nin's diaries. Plus Henry Miller's work as well. There's nothing quite as stimulating as something provocative and there's no doubt Nin & Miller were that. |

What I can say is that I love to write. Its hard to explain the feeling I get when I am writing...its like I have a whole new slate to fill, and once it is filled I find another blank slate and start all over again... Just the feeling of writing on paper calms me, yet I am starting to get used to the feel of the keyboard under my fingers... I love to write poetry, I adore journalling...yet I have never tried fiction. What I like to write is real..and I think I am best at it. I am still searching for my way when it comes to the written word...yet as I continue to journal, thoughts and ideas are coming into play, and now that I am getting feedback on my journalling, I can see what people enjoy... Happy Writing... |

The "Island" was Huxley's last book and was made into a movie I believe with Michael Caine. It wasn't well received when the book came out. However when Huxley died,(BTW on november 22, 1963,) the book did get abit of a second look. Huxley to me shaped more intellects than any other writer. His journey into mysticism too, was an interesting lifestyle for him and helped usher in the psychadelic era. (The Doors Of Perception was a book that had a great influence in that.) I love Byron & Shelley as well. There's nothing like a good gothic genre and its artists. Plus "To Kill A Mockingbird" is also a huge fave of mine. (both book & film) |

I've only read 'Brave New World' and 'The Island' by Huxley, but was deeply impressed by both, though I see why BNW is the better known. I gave a copy of that book to my little brother when he was 15 and generally didn't read anything more than X-Men comics. He read it three times in one week
