Message:   Hi Wolfram:

Thanks for recognizing the satire, I mean, I thought it was obvious, but what do I know?

I agree with you. Actually, this process has been ongoing for some time. The fragmentation of forums began when many NFs introduced forums in their own language. Is it any wonder, then, that non-english speaking visitors feel more comfortable in a forum environment where their language is spoken?

It is a trivial matter to introduce different language boards into modern forums - the biggest problem is finding the moderators who will be responsible for watching over the non-english boards. So, theoretically, it is extremely easy to have 10 or 20 different languages at the same forum, in one place.

Then you have each online org, with its own message board or forum. More fragmentation.

The simple fact of the matter is that because a forum is so easy to implement, there are lots of them around.

It also means that all forums compete with other forums for members, in a death-match-type atmosphere. Victory or death, and all of that stuff.

As for us, we will keep doing our thing. The number of guest traffic at the new TCCMB has been really surprising to me - there are tons of lurkers and casual visitors out there. The problem is, how to you snare them?

You should be jealous of me. I have no games pending at all - nah, nah, nah, nah, nah...

Looking forward to seeing you more on the other TCCMB when you feel that you are able to!

Kind Regards,
John
