A modern and stylish forum would attract much more users.

They would benefit from

- easier navigation
- various boards, or different sections within
THE Correspondence Chess Board
(i.e, Common Correspondence Chess Issues, Games
related section, German Speaking Section ,...)
- possibility to insert HTML-diagrams of a chess
position into a posting
- to subscribe to a specific thread to get an
autmatic email notification when a reply is
posted.

et cetera...

That's the reason why updates for well-known forum software, like phpbb, vBulletin are developped.
Because users like these features ...
