2) Usually you will get a start and end date of the special leave even on the webserver. the difference is that you don't know why.
3) Yes, and repeated special leaves needs to get special attention from the TD.
And we do agree on what is normal for postal and email play, and I think that I have always, as getting atleast one special leave annually (ICCF Congress) granted by my TD:s, that I have informed the players with the reasons myself.
But the webserver is different, as you only can send messages to your opponents when you make moves.
